The following inspections should be carried out before every use of your chain saw.
Always check for leaking fuel every time the saw is used. Check around the base of the motor casing, close to the carburettor and the fuel cap. Never use a chain saw that has a fuel leak. take it to an authorised dealer for repairs.
The chain brake system is a safety system to prevent kickback occurring when the chain hits a stationary object and causes the chain to bind and swing towards the operator. Always check that it is working before each use and take the saw to an authorised dealer for repair. Never use the saw with a faulty chain brake system.
This guard prvents the chain contacting stationary objects and helps to minimise kickback. It covers the chain at the end of the bar just in front of the wheel of the sprocket. Make sure the guard is undamaged and never use a chain saw with the guard removed as this can lead to serious injury. If the guard is damaged replace it.
The following inspections should be carried out at least every ten hours of use.
This is found inside the muffler and prevents sparks coming out of the exhaust onto the operator or causing a fire by falling onto flammable materials. The screen needs to be cleaned regularly as oil deposited on the screen can build up an clog it resulting in reduced performance.
Follow the manufacturers manual for lubricating the sprocket tip. A special tool will usually be needed to inject grease into the lubrication hole of the sprocket.
